Corporate Roots, Entrepreneurial Drive: Building Legacies at the Intersection of Strategy, Style & AI
Sze Liu (/ziː ljuː/ ~ pronounced Zee Loo) was born and raised in Hong Kong, a city defined by rhythm, resilience, and reinvention. Her family’s history is one of quiet defiance. Both of her grandfathers were among the freedom swimmers who crossed treacherous waters from mainland China to Hong Kong in the 1950s, men who traded uncertainty for possibility. Their courage became the foundation upon which generations would build, and the inheritance that shaped her sense of purpose.
Though her parents divorced when she was young, the stories of her paternal grandfather endured. He owned a bespoke men’s tailoring shop in Kennedy Town, where craftsmanship was treated as both art and discipline. Through him, she absorbed the early lessons of independence that refinement is built, not bought; and that legacy, at its core, is work done with care.
As a teenager, she moved to Miami, a journey that mirrored her family’s instinct to seek broader horizons. She attended American Heritage School, continued at Broward College, and later earned her Bachelor of Science in General Marketing and International Business from Florida Atlantic University.
By graduation, she was determined to remain in the United States and began her professional life with Manpower (NYSE: MAN) before joining Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R) There, she balanced corporate strategy by day with academia by night, completing her Executive MBA at the University of Miami. The experience deepened her understanding of leadership, not as authority, but as stewardship.
From the neon pulse of Hong Kong to the sunlit ambition of Miami, her story is one of composure under motion, a modern echo of her family’s enduring faith in reinvention.
Sze began her career at ManpowerGroup (NYSE: MAN), one of the world’s largest Fortune 500 staffing firms. There, she gained a front-row seat to the architecture of human potential, interviewing people daily and connecting them with opportunities that matched not only their skills but their stories. The experience sharpened her instincts for human behavior and business dynamics, an intuition that continues to guide her work today.
She later joined Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a Fortune 500 company with a 90-year legacy in logistics and innovation. At its Miami headquarters, she worked across Human Resources, Strategy, and Marketing while collaborating with IT, Finance, and Legal. It was a master class in scale: learning to manage cross-functional initiatives, navigate enterprise systems, and translate complexity into movement. During her tenure, she earned her Executive MBA from the University of Miami and secured U.S. permanent residency, later becoming a proud American citizen.
Her path into entrepreneurship began soon after. Driven by her lifelong fascination with technology, business, and design, she founded 852 Creative Marketing & Design, a boutique consultancy that merged strategic precision with creative expression. The agency laid the groundwork for what would eventually evolve into her next venture.
In 2015, she met her future business partner, Bradley Cummins, at WordCamp Miami, where she was speaking on WooCommerce. A shared passion for design, commerce, and culture led to collaboration, and by 2017 they co-founded WMD Agency.
Under her leadership as Co-Founder and Chief Growth Officer, WMD has grown into a state-certified woman- and minority-owned agency known for its intelligence, discretion, and results. The firm partners with brands across industries to drive measurable growth through platform migrations, full-funnel marketing systems, and AI-informed digital strategy — operating less as a vendor and more as an embedded ally.
For Sze, WMD represents more than a business. It’s a study in balance where precision meets purpose, and every solution reflects the quiet confidence of doing things the right way, not the loud way.
Outside of her professional work, Sze’s life reflects the same curiosity and discipline that shape her business philosophy. After leaving the corporate world, she spent a month in Japan. The experience sparked the vision that would eventually evolve into her first agency, a fusion of creativity, precision, and digital innovation.
A lifelong learner, she continues to study languages and culture as part of her personal growth practice. She is currently preparing for the DELF B2 French certification while also studying Korean and Japanese, drawn to the elegance and nuance of each language.
Her travels have taken her across Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the U.K., France, and Dubai, among other experiences that have refined her appreciation for design, architecture, and understated luxury. Each destination, she often says, leaves its own quiet imprint on how she builds, dresses, and leads.
Sze is also an advocate for education and opportunity. Through her involvement with FEF CodeMasters, a Florida-based initiative empowering underserved students to learn programming and digital skills, she has supported efforts to help the next generation bridge creativity and technology.
When she isn’t working, she finds calm in structure: reading, working out, horseback riding, and exploring thoughtful cuisine, maintaining the quiet rituals that keep her grounded.
She also draws creative inspiration from unexpected places ~ from the disciplined artistry and sensory precision of K-pop culture to the craftsmanship of film, fashion, and the neoclassical elegance of Parisian architecture.
To Sze, elegance is less about appearance than about rhythm, the ability to move through ambition with clarity and grace.
